Get out the drywall tape!!!
This technique was suggested to me by a friend who noted my love for “magic mesh”. Unfortunately, I am unable to get this product through my supplier and none of the local stores carry it so she suggested I come up with my own mesh by using drywall tape! I have experimented with it in a number of ways including dying it with alcohol inks or using it as a mask and then removing it from my paper. The latter is wonderful for adding the appearance of texture to my paper without having to worry about leaving a non acid free material on my page. I can’t wait to try this with my new Copic Marker airbrush system! Try adding a metallic alcohol ink for a metallic look, or giving it a distressed look by fraying the edges and running a Tim Holtz Distress ink pad over top. The possibilities are endless!
Pro’s: Very cheap and a roll of tape goes a long way, can be added directly to your LO or used as a mask for texturing an area, can be dyed in any color, backing is not too sticky making for easy removal and repositioning
Con’s: Not an acid free material. Only available in one weave size unlike magic mesh which comes in several patterns and sizes
